Choosing a keyboard: Basic tips
Select the appropriate Keyboard type
To choose the right keyboard for your needs, you must first decide on its type. The most common keyboard types are: Mechanical keyboards: These keyboards offer the best feedback and durability, but are also the most expensive. Rubberdome keyboards: These keyboards are the cheapest, but offer less feedback and are generally noisier. Membrane keyboards: These keyboards are the simplest and cheapest, but offer the least feedback and are the noisiest. Consider the size and layout of the keyboard
Keyboard size and layout are two important features to consider. Common keyboard sizes are: TKL (Tenkeyless): TKl keyboards do not have a number pad, which saves space on your desktop. 60% Keyboards: 60% keyboards are even more compact than TKL keyboards and are perfect for travel or those who need a smaller keyboard. The keyboard layouts are: QWERTY: This is the standard layout used by most keyboards. Dvorak: The Dvorak layout is designed to reduce finger movement and make typing more ergonomic. Make sure the keyboard is compatible with your device
Keyboard connectors are: USB: USB is the most commonly used keyboard connector and is compatible with most computers and tablets. PS/2: The PS/2 connector is an older connector that can be more difficult to find. Check for feedback and noise
If you are looking for a keyboard that provides excellent feedback, choose a mechanical keyboard. If noise reduction is important to you, choose a keyboard with close-locked keys or muted feedback.
